The Only Mortal in Heaven — Episode 9: Alive and Wanted

The finale of The Only Mortal in Heaven starts with a surrender. Angel hesitates, then gives in: 'If this is what it takes.' Asmodea has always wondered what an angel tastes like, and she pulls Angel close before both of them turn their attention to William. Red fire and blue light swirl across his chest as the rite finally catches. For William, this is paradise in every sense, an angel kissing him and refusing to stop.

When the glow fades, William opens his eyes in his own room, in his own bed, with sunlight spilling through his own window. On either side of him, two familiar faces are fast asleep. No wings. No horns. One gave up heaven, the other gave up hell. Two women built to live forever chose a mortal life with the man who lost everything in a single night, and that is the ending nobody saw coming.
